LG Electronics (LG) and Lufthansa Technik AG have established a joint venture (JV) to develop, produce and market LG’s OLED displays for commercial aircraft cabins.
The companies say the JV will combine LG’s OLED display technology and Lufthansa Technik’s aviation business capabilities to create new markets for cabin aircraft applications such as welcome board screens and interior linings.
Based in Hamburg, Germany, the new venture will commence operation in the first half of 2019.
Kwon Soon-hwang, president of LG’s Business-to-Business Company said the company is “excited” to be working with Lufthansa Technik “to expand the reach of LG’s innovative consumer electronic technologies to commercial aircrafts.”
The closing of the agreement is subject to regulatory approval.
