Latécoère expands into IFE

Latécoère has acquired the monitor business of Aircraft Cabin Systems (ACS), allowing its Interconnection Systems division to expand its existing range of video systems with high-quality products and to offer its customers the systems entire value chain, from the camera to the passenger or cockpit screen.

ACS holds more than 100 certifications on products dedicated to in-flight entertainment. Its monitors, ranging from 6 to 80 inches, are tailor-made and include high-tech features (HD, 4K, all types of connectivity, etc.). They are produced in small series for a wide number of aircraft, including business jets as well as Airbus and Boeing programs.

Yannick Assouad, Latécoère CEO, commented: “This transaction allows us to complete our product range in the aircraft cabin sector, while strengthening our footprint in the US, as close as possible to our customers. We also intend to expand our business jet market share by offering a tailor-made global solution to our most demanding customers.”

Latécoère has also released Q2 2019 figures, showing revenue up 13.4%.

During the International Paris Air Show, Latécoère demonstrated the speed and reliability of LiFi technology on a feature a full-scale, medium-range Air France cabin mock-up.

Working with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance, Latécoère developed the system, while AFI KLM E&M obtained certification for the solution and oversaw cabin integration.

In order to demonstrate the power of LiFi transmission speeds, Ubisoft launched a never-before-seen tournament based around its racing video game Trackmania² Stadium on Latécoère’s stand.

The official tournament began on 6 July, with the final rounds taking place in September 2019 on a one-off Air France commercial flight in an aircraft specially kitted out for the occasion, with 12 seats equipped with Latécoère’s LiFi technology. Competitors will be able to discover customized racetracks created especially for the event and that will feature key elements of Air France’s and Latécoère’s universe.
