INSYS aero, has unveiled a state-of-the-art solution for in-flight entertainment (IFE) and connectivity – the wireless access point APX330, suitable for use in commercial aircraft as well as smaller planes and helicopters.
The wireless access point enables multimedia streaming, web access, VoIP telephony, online gaming, or on-board sales applications, and can also be used as a terminal for remote maintenance. For streaming applications, each access point can manage over 70 clients. The unique Active Spectrum Management (ASM) enables distributed management of hundreds of clients and automatic global load balancing between single access points.Due to automatic error detection, the APX330 restarts independently if necessary and resets the system to the last functional state. The same function kicks in in case of irregularities during firmware updates. The system uses heavily encrypted images for maximum protection against data loss and manipulation. The access point supports the latest dual 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard and is downward compatible to 802.11a/b/g/n. As part of the development and quality assurance process for the APX330, INSYS aero has also developed the quality management tool AvioXnet STL, an advanced test and streaming platform for more than 180 clients (Android, iOS, and Linux devices). This tool enables automatic testing and analysis of dynamic, mobile or even time-staggered loads, including deterministic repetitions.
