IFE Services has agreed to supply 32 of the 44 aircraft in Thomas Cook Airlines’ UK fleet with the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). The devices will be pre-loaded with a selection of movies, television programmes, children’s shows and the latest PSP video games.
IFE Services says the PSP is fully certified for use in flight and can be held comfortably by passengers or positioned on a seatback tray. Featuring a high-resolution, widescreen TFT display, it boasts up to 11 hours of battery life.
Thomas Cook UK & Ireland CEO Ian Derbyshire says the introduction of individual PSPs on the airline’s short and medium haul flights this summer means "passengers can have control over their own entertainment, which they can watch at their own leisure."
UK-based IFE Services has signed PSP distribution deals with seven airlines and says it is in advanced negotiations with several more.
