Honeywell has upgraded its JetMap moving map display, adding worldwide three dimensional perspective views of terrain, ocean topography, enhanced graphics andpolar ice views.
The new JetMap III also provides real-time flight data, passenger situational awareness information, and data services for news, business, weather, and sports. Honeywell completed the first installation of JetMap III this month on its own Falcon 900.
“With JetMap III, we are not only improving the overall passenger experience, but with the addition of new Ovation C-Series cabin management and inflight entertainment upgrades such as touch screen passenger control units (PCUs), Blu-ray video, high definition monitors and iPod docks we can refresh the cabin as an interim step before a more costly complete interior refurbishment is done,” says Brian Sill, vice president, aftermarket, with Honeywell Aerospace.
Originally designed for the Honeywell Ovation C-Series Cabin Management System, JetMap III can be adapted easily into non-Honeywell systems, the vendor says.
Current JetMap II users can upgrade to JetMap III simply by replacing the removable compact flash memory card. “Customers told us they are looking for ways to improve the passenger cabin experience without replacing the entire system,” Sill comments.
JetMap III allows passengers and crew to customise settings through the use of a handheld remote control.Passengers can turn features on and off, make changes to display pages and save settings both on the ground and in the air.
