Gogo and Virgin America have announced the launch to trial People.com, the leading celebrity news site, on all flights beginning 8th October.
The service will now be available to air travelers on a complimentary basis and is the first-ever entertainment content to be featured by Gogo’s inflight internet on Virgin America.
Known for its entertainment platform and stylish service, Virgin America became the first airline to offer in-flight internet via Aircell’s Gogo service on every flight in May 2009.
“Beyond providing inflight internet access, we’re striving to provide relevant, real time, engaging content to our users,” said Dave Bijur, Vice President of Partnerships. “That’s why we are thrilled to provide passengers with People.com’s leading entertainment news content, and we hope to expand the trial in 2011.”
“People.com’s wide mix of entertainment news is the perfect escape for air travelers while flying,” said Mark Golin, editor of People.com. “Celebrity news enthusiasts now have yet another opportunity to enjoy and engage with the People brand – either on the ground or at 35,000 feet,” he added.
