Global Aerospace Design Corp. (Global) has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to equip Zodiac Inflight Innovations’ RAVE in-flight entertainment (IFE) system on Air Niugini’s Boeing 767 aircraft.
“Global is privileged to have been a part of this programme,” said Rex Nystrom, Vice President of Engineering at Global. “Our focus is on safety and reliability, and we are pleased to accomplish this for Air Niugini by providing their passenger’s access to RAVE.”
The STC has been issued following extensive aircraft testing intended to focus on passenger safety and comfort. The RAVE System Control Unit (SCU) is installed into the existing aircraft video control centre. This single LRU interfaces to the aircraft systems and loads content to each of the seats which are also able to operate autonomously during flight with an aim to offer reliability and an enhanced passenger experience.
“It was a pleasure working with Global and the other suppliers on this project to provide Air Niugini with a superior IFEC product,” commented Harry Gray, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Zodiac Inflight Innovations.
