Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) has announced the successful broadcast of an in-flight live television test in partnership with Air China.
The newscast, that included a live television crew filming from the Xinhua News Agency filming on-board, utilised GEE’s Ku-band in-flight connectivity system.
The satellite connection successfully managed to broadcast both on the ground and live to the news crew while in-flight, connecting the Air China Boeing 777 with the live feed from the National People Congress/Chinese People's Political Consultative Conferences (NPC/CPPCC).
"This is an historic event for both Air China and in-flight connectivity in the region," commented Walé Adepoju, chief commercial officer of GEE. "We're thrilled to have supported China's national carrier and China's national news agency with our broadband connectivity system to enable the live broadcast of the NPC/CPPCC Conferences. This flight highlights the power and breadth of GEE's connectivity system and we're excited to continue working closely with Air China on its IFEC solution.”
