Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. (GEE) has finalised the acquisitions of Western Outdoor Interactive (WOI) and the Airline Media Network business from RMG Networks Holding Corporation (RMG Networks), which GEE claims will strengthen and expand the organisation's offerings in the digital media and content services sectors.
With the acquisition of WOI, GEE has grown its digital media business and presence for apps and games to the in-flight entertainment (IFE) market. WOI has over 30 years of experience, during which time relationships have been developed with leading airlines and aviation hardware providers. In addition, WOI’s engineers and creative services provide design, web and app development expertise.
GEE expects the acquisition of RMG Networks’ Airline Media Network division to bolster its in-flight advertising and sponsorship offering. The additional services will provide a foundation from which to serve advertising and sponsorship opportunities via digital media, in either a connected or offline environment, seatback screen entertainment and digital signage in airline lounges.
