Mirus Aircraft Seating is to open a wholly owned subsidiary, Mirus Aircraft Seating Malaysia SDN BHD, to support launch customer AirAsia.
The facility will initially act as an after-sales service centre, providing technical support to AirAsia, which is installing Mirus’ Hawk short-range economy seat on 312 of its Airbus A320neo aircraft (as well as retrofitting the seat on eight existing Airbus A320s).
Mirus hopes that in the long-term, its Malaysian base will become a duplicate production facility to support a growing number of customers in the region, improving lead times and lowering costs.
Phil Hall, CEO of Mirus Aircraft Seating, commented, “I’m really happy we’re able to announce this significant milestone at Farnborough. It’s an exciting new step in the Mirus story and will demonstrate to customers our commitment to providing them with outstanding support.”
Plans for the subsidiary have come to fruition following discussions with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.
