Emirates has launched an interactive amenity kit for its economy class passengers utilising augmented reality (AR) technology to unlock immersive content on their mobile devices.
By downloading the Blippar mobile app and using it to scan their amenity kits, passengers will be able to exclusive content including activities and health tips for a more comfortable travel experience.
Emirates plans to refresh the content every six months.
The Blippar app enables customers to point at thousands of objects already recognised by the app to get additional information on those items. The content explains the object, the context and other useful and interesting facts and is sourced from Blippar’s knowledge graph, known as Blipparsphere.
The amenity kits, which also include an eye mask, earplugs, toothbrush, toothpaste and socks, will be available from August on selected long-haul routes as well as on all Emirates’ ultra-long haul services.
