If there’s an element of the travel experience that is bound to raise the hackles of passengers, it’s the aircraft seat.

Whether it is comfort, pitch, legroom or a myriad of complaints, the aircraft seat can have a massive influence on brand perception and the overall passenger experience.

Seating manufacturers are not idle in addressing these concerns, with growing attention being paid to ergonomics, finishes and weight, and airlines are taking note.

Founded in 2017, the Bulgarian-headquartered charter airline Tayaran Jet, is to equip its pair of Boeing 737-300 aircraft with the Aurora 2.0 economy seat from Italy’s JHAS.

The seats have been customised for the airline which becomes the launch customer for the product.

Sticking in Eastern Europe, Ukrainian low-cost carrier SkyUp Airlines has selected the Series 3 Ultra seat from Acro for its six B737-800 and two B737-700 aircraft.

Established in 2018, the carrier aims to have an 18-plane fleet by 2022 as it seeks to expand its domestic flight network.

Following the announcement that Acro is to provide new seats for the Florida-based ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines, Airbase, part of Trenchard Aviation Group, will provide Ultra- Leather seat covers.

Spirit Airlines will become the launch customer for the new Series 6LC economy class seat, when it enters into service next month on its linefit A320 aircraft. The Series 6LC seats will be upholstered in a soft touch matte-black synthetic leather with border stitching in Spirit’s signature yellow.
