One story this week has pushed all other headlines to one side. The birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the new-born son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
In keeping with its celebrations to mark such news, British Airways, the self-proclaimed ‘expert in domestic arrivals’ treated customers travelling with young children using the dedicated family check-in zone at Terminal 5 to their very own crowns and tiaras to help celebrate, alongside a specially designed photo frame to allow families to capture their special moment before departure.
To honour the arrival of the new baby boy, the airline also offered all customers travelling on Wednesday 8 May on BA281 to Los Angeles and BA93 to Toronto, the Duchess of Sussex’s former home cities, the chance to wet the baby’s head and raise a toast with a complimentary glass of champagne at the gate area before boarding.
Apparently, Archie means ‘brave’ and ‘bold’, the same traits Tim Jordan, head of FlyArystan, believes his new airline, the low-cost carrier arm of Air Astana, also shares.
Recently launched with two Airbus A320 aircraft, Jordan said: “What we are doing with this new airline is delivering something new and different for the people of Kazakhstan. With our super low fares we are being brave and courageous.”
Jordan added that the airline is “courting a new generation of travellers.” Little Archie may well be among them.
