Gogo has announced that eBay’s senior executive, Christopher Payne, has been appointed to the company’s board of directors.
Payne has spent the last five years of his career at eBay where he currently serves as senior vice president, North America Marketplaces. He is responsible for leading eBay's North American businesses, which includes general management, marketing and P&L.
"Christopher is a welcome addition to the Gogo board and his experience in technology and E-commerce will serve the company well," commented Ron LeMay, Gogo's Chairman of the Board. "Having a director with Christopher's qualifications and background will add to the breadth of knowledge and experience that Gogo's board brings to the company."
Prior to joining eBay, Payne was founder and CEO of a software start-up called Positronic which was acquired by eBay in December 2008.
Payne has also held leadership positions at Microsoft and Amazon. During his time with Microsoft, Payne led the company's efforts in web search, mapping (Virtual Earth) and shopping. While at Amazon he led the company's entry into Video, Electronics, Wireless, PCs and Software.
Payne's term on the Gogo board will extend until the annual meeting of stockholders in 2016.
