TrueNorth Avionics (TrueNorth) has announced that AMAC Aerospace has installed its Simphon? Mobile GSM System as part of a Boeing 747-8I aircraft completion.
Designed for long-range VIP private aircraft, Simphon? Mobile GSM works with all quad-band phones and Wi-Fi enabled smartphones to offer a mobile service similar to on the ground. Passengers and crew can use their own personal phones in-flight to text and talk without any additional configuration, apps or forwarding service. The system has more than 300 global roaming partners, with Satcom Direct and Satcom1 as official service partners.
“Installing a system specifically geared towards business and VIP private aviation was an important consideration for us, and our clients,” said Bernd Schramm, AMAC Aerospace’s COO. “It’s simple, people want to stay in touch, and they are used to their own phones with their own contact lists. They don’t have time to load additional apps; they just want to make a call like they would anywhere else. The TrueNorth GSM system has allowed us to bring this simplicity to our customers.”
“Our partnership with AMAC is very important to our business, and we are thrilled that they have selected our private GSM Solution for this completion,” commented TrueNorth Avionics CEO, Mark van Berkel. “Since the company’s founding AMAC has led the industry in choosing innovative solutions that add value to the aircraft owner’s in-flight experience.”
