Donica Aviation partners with Kiora to provide a combined IFE solution for BYOD market

Chinese in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution provider Donica Aviation Engineering and Kiora, a content distribution platform provider for low bandwidth domains, have announced a joint solution to deliver a complete hardware and software platform for wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE).

The turnkey solution combines Donica’s Wireless AVOD System with Kiora’s KIVE content distribution platform, which also includes Marlin DRM – an open, standards-based multi-format content protection technology, widely adopted for IPTV and OTT initiatives across Europe and Japan and the leading DRM in China.“We selected Kiora’s content distribution platform because it is widely deployed and is specifically designed for captive audience environments like in-cabin,” said Justin Min, CEO of Donica. “The combined solution with Donica will provide our customers the best-of-breed hardware and software components that are optimised to drive down deployment costs for a wireless in-flight entertainment system.”The solution allows passengers to access movies, news, e-books and games from the airline’s entertainment package and play it on their own devices.
