Cobham SATCOM has partnered with Southeast Aerospace, China Trancomm, Inmarsat and Delta G Design to develop an FAA STC for its AVIATOR 300 system (with Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband Safety) on Shenzhen Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The new technology featured in the AVIATOR 300 will enable Shenzhen Airlines to comply with the Civil Aviation Authority of China’s mandate requiring airlines to operate and control voice communications independent of Air Traffic Control within four minutes.
Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband Safety will allow for Airline Operational Communications (AOC) messaging on the Boeing 737NG aircraft. The Cobham terminal will interface with the aircraft’s existing Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, meaning flight deck data messages can be carried over Inmarsat SwiftBroadband.
