Canadian North Airlines has launched Airconnect Go, the wireless streaming IFE platform from Global Eagle, on selected routes.

“Airconnect Go is a complete turn-key cabin entertainment solution which is easy to implement and operate with instant results. Canadian North is a great example of an airline choosing a simple and affordable solution for their customers’ cabin entertainment” said Per Norén, president of Global Eagle.

“We are very excited to enhance our onboard experience with this impressive new amenity. Global Eagle’s solution was very easy to implement and quickly delivered top-notch streaming entertainment to our passengers” said Andrew Pope, vice-president of Scheduled Services and Cargo for Canadian North.

Airconnect Go is compact enough to fit into the overhead bin of the majority of commercial aircraft. A single Airconnect Go system, which is around the size of a shoe box, can stream concurrently to over 50 users, for 15 hours of continual playback. Airlines also benefit from user consumption behaviour data which can be captured and analysed using Global Eagle’s Pulse reporting system.

The system is a low-cost and fast option for airlines. There is no hardware to install and the system complies with avionics standards without the need for additional aircraft certification or Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs). Passengers can use their own iOS and Android devices to stream premium content. Airconnect Go integrates Airtime’s leading Digital Rights Management capabilities, enabling passengers to play back content via their web-browser without an additional application being required for Apple iOS or Google Android devices and laptops.
