Taiwan-based international carrier EVA Airways has selected ARINC’s GLOBALink Satellite Communications (SATCOM) services to enhance its passenger and flight deck communications.The new satellite connectivity will offer higher bandwidth for improved access to vital flight information by EVA flight crews, as well as seamless in-flight connectivity for EVA passengers, who will be able to stay in touch via e-mail, instant messaging channels, or short message service (SMS).The carrier has chosen ARINC GLOBALink as the Air/Ground Data Link communications provider for its entire fleet. The ARINC solution provides near-instantaneous delivery of vital operational and control information such as weather, diversions, and emergencies between EVA Airways air and ground crews. The carrier aims to enhance its flight operations and safety with greater accuracy and faster turnaround times.As well as an Air/Ground Data Link solution, ARINC collaborated with Panasonic Avionics to upgrade EVA Airways’ in-flight entertainment (IFE) offering with seatback messaging, an application that allows passengers to send e-mails and SMS communications during flight.
