Panasonic Avionics Corporation and Uzbekistan Airways have formed a commitment for in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) solutions for three Boeing 787-8 and two Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Panasonic’s X-Series IFEC system, along with a suite of connectivity services, will be line-fit installed on the new aircraft, with the first due to enter service in January 2019.

Panasonic’s connectivity services will also be retrofitted to three Boeing 787-8s already in operation with the airline.

Hideo Nakano, chief executive officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, said: “Uzbekistan Airways is a long-standing and highly valued customer, and we are delighted to be their partner of choice for in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions on their new fleet.”

Passengers travelling on the airline’s new Boeing 787-8 and A320neo aircraft will benefit from a personalised ‘home theatre’ experience with HD screens and USB charging facilities at every seat, with multi-touchscreens working in conjunction with a range of applications including in-flight retail features.

The new aircraft will also be fitted with Panasonic’s in-flight Wi-Fi service.

Passengers on its Boeing 787 aircraft will also be able to use their mobile phones in-flight, with a choice of live TV channels including Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra, offering live coverage of sporting events.
