Air France’s new high-speed satellite connectivity has entered into service on its first two Gogo 2Ku-equipped aircraft – an Airbus A330 and a Boeing 777.

“Air France has reached an exciting milestone as it brings its first Airbus and Boeing aircraft online, giving its passengers access to high-speed Wi-Fi on long-haul flights,” said John Wade, president of Commercial Aviation at Gogo. “As we continue to install aircraft with 2Ku, we remain highly focused on performance in order to provide a great experience on every aircraft, every flight.”

Installations are underway for the balance of Air France’s long-haul fleet of 83 aircraft.

With Air France CONNECT, customers can now access three Wi-Fi passes on their own devices.
A free “Message” pass allows customers to send and receive Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage and WeChat messages free of charge on their smartphone or tablet throughout the flight. Customers can also access the airfrance.com website and the Air France app to consult or modify their reservations.

A “Surf” pass enables customers to surf the internet and read or send emails. Customers can use this service by paying 3 euros for the entire duration of the trip on short-haul flights; 5 euros for the entire duration of the trip on medium-haul flights; or 8 euros (2,700 miles), for one hour or 18 euros (6,000 miles) for the entire duration of the trip on long-haul flights.

A “Stream” pass is available on all long-haul flights, and includes all the benefits of the Message pass and the Surf pass. The Stream pass allows passengers to benefit from a high-speed internet connection to enjoy streaming and downloading throughout the flight for just 30 euros (10,000 miles).

The Air France CONNECT offer will gradually be extended to offer customers additional services and entertainment such as detailed flight information, shopping and a wide selection of films, TV series and documentaries to watch free of charge on their smartphone or tablet.

By the end of 2018, the in-flight Wi-Fi offer, Air France CONNECT, will be available on 22 long-haul aircraft and 8 short- and medium-haul aircraft, with an aim of equipping the entire fleet by the end of 2020.
