IMG has secured a renewal of its in-flight media rights deal with DFL Deutsche Fußball Ligae.V., represented by its sales subsidiary DFL Sports Enterprises GmbH, to show live coverage as well as non-live programming of the Bundesliga German football league.
The new deal, which begins with the 2017/18 season, will include coverage of at least 160 live matches per season alongside several Bundesliga preview and highlights shows across both IMG’s Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra in-flight channels.
Richard Wise, SVP and head of in-flight for IMG Media, explained, “The Bundesliga is extremely popular with inflight passengers and we are delighted to have renewed our rights agreement with them. German football is a very strong product and provides outstanding live action in front of passionate and packed stadiums for our passengers across the world.”
“This signing is a reflection of the success we have had in seeing the Bundesliga positioned as an inherent part of the in-flight entertainment programme and the trust in the professional collaboration with IMG,” remarked Patrick Stüber, manager of sales and audio-visual rights across the Americas & EMEA for DFL Sports Enterprises. “With their channels Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra, IMG provides an ideal environment for the Bundesliga to promote further growth.”
Sport 24 also features live coverage of events including the Premier League, MotoGP, NFL, NHL, NBA, golf majors and tennis grand slams.
