KID-Systeme has selected technology from Airborne Interactive to introduce a moving map service to SKYfi, its in-flight entertainment (IFE) platform, which will be known as ‘SKYfi geo.’
Peter Schetschine, VP of customer affairs for KID-Systeme, stated, “While many of the features of SKYfi offer airlines revenue-generating or cost-saving opportunities, passengers also expect high-quality in-flight mapping information.”
Schetschine continued, “We are therefore very pleased to be incorporating Airborne Interactive’s widely used and trusted mapping technology into our platform. With this addition, the SKYfi suite is complete and ready for deployment by the many airlines who have expressed interest since the system’s announcement.”
‘SKYfi geo’ provides flight information to passengers in graphic form, featuring the aircraft’s current location, direction and distance to destination.
KID-Systeme’s SKYfi solution is available in various different forms. It can come simply as a GSM and telephony system or a full-telephony and internet platform which allows customers to stream entertainment to their personal electronic devices.
