ALTO Aviation has expanded its line of custom audio and entertainment solutions for business aviation with the development of a conference table microphone system.
The requirement was for a group of people around a large, nine-seat conference table to be able to converse during flight, which was made difficult by the aircraft cabin noise. ALTO Aviation’s audio systems engineers designed a system including 11 microphones with custom gold-plated table connections, overhead loudspeakers, a gold-plated control panel and an amplifier with advanced digital signal processing mounted under the table.
“Getting the system perfectly tuned and balanced such that every participant could be heard loud and clear without any noise or feedback was a real challenge,” explained Steve Scarlata, VP of engineering and research and development, ALTO Aviation. “We implemented some very complex signal processing which brought focus to the person talking while filtering out the ambient noise from all the microphones. As a result, the participants can hold a meeting comfortably hearing everyone without having to shout or strain.”
The company completed the installation as part of a cabin audio upgrade for a Boeing 747 in Beijing, China.
