AIX 2015: GEE’s connectivity service to launch on first B737 MAX with Southwest

Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) has announced that Southwest Airlines (Southwest) has chosen its Ku-band global satellite connectivity system to be factory installed on its orders for the Boeing 737 MAX.Southwest is Boeing's launch customer for the 737 MAX programme and expects to take delivery of the aircraft from 2017 with GEE's connectivity system pre-installed, enabling passengers to access the internet and the airline's free Live TV service.GEE's satellite connectivity system is now provisions offerable on Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft, and the company is actively working with Boeing on full line-fit catalogue offerability, which it expects to achieve later this year."We have been working closely with Southwest Airlines and Boeing to achieve line-fit offerability and are delighted to continue supporting the airline's customer product offerings with our in-flight connectivity solution," commented Dave Davis, GEE’s CEO. “It's a major accomplishment for GEE to have our antenna system pre-installed on the first 737 MAX that Boeing will deliver to launch customer Southwest and we look forward to continued collaboration with both companies in the future.”
