Sama suspends all flight operations
August 29, 2010As of 24 August 2010, Saudi Arabian low-fare airline Sama ceased flight operations.
The carrier, which operated Boeing 737s on domestic and international routes, often complained of being restricted by domestic regulations which prevented it from practising the fare management used by low-fare operators in deregulated markets.
The airline’s website only has a notice pointing those with bookings to contact centre representatives who were working to place passengers on other airlines.
The airline was started with the assistance of UK consultancy Mango Aviation and was led originally by Andrew Cowen before Bruce Ashby joined as CEO from Indian LFA IndiGo in late 2008.
