1,000th aircraft gets Gogo
September 1, 2010A Delta Air Lines DC-9 has become the 1,000th aircraft to be equipped with Gogo Inflight Internet at the end of a month that saw various Delta, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines aeroplanes wired for the service.
The landmark installation means Gogo is now available on more than 3,800 flights daily, up from just 2,100 a year earlier. Approximately one in three mainline domestic aircraft now offers the service.
"This is a big milestone for our company and for consumers who want to stay connected at 30,000 feet," says Aircell president and CEO Michael Small. "A few years ago internet on a commercial flight was unheard of, and today it is commonplace."
