FARNBOROUGH 2010: Qatar CSeries talks still stalled

News : FARNBOROUGH 2010: Qatar CSeries talks still stalled July 19, 2010

Though Qatar Airways announced the purchase of the three Bombardier corporate jets for its subsidiary, Qatar Executive, it would not be drawn into a firm commitment on a potential deal for the Bombardier CSeries.

The airline’s CEO cited ‘commercial issues’ with the engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney for the delay in announcing a firm order for the eagerly awaited aircraft. Akbar Al Baker, who has been at the airline's helm since 1997, commented, “We are still talking to Bombardier about the CSeries. I hope the negotiations will come to fruition in the near future.”

Al Baker refused to make further comment on the matter at the airline’s press conference, except that he expected Bombardier to resolve the issue with its engine supplier before any order is announced.
