FARNBOROUGH 2010: CFM56-7BE to be certified by end of July
July 17, 2010The CFM56-7BE engine for the upgraded Boeing 737 family, due to enter service next year, will be certified jointly by the US FAA and by EASA by the end of July 2010, according to CFM’s executive-vice president, Olivier Savin.
The CFM56-7BE engine for the upgraded Boeing 737 family, due to enter service next year, will be certified jointly by the US FAA and by EASA by the end of July 2010, according to CFM’s executive-vice president, Olivier Savin.
The engine has undergone around 450 hours testing and has been in the air on the company’s flying testbed since April.
The next milestone after certification of the engine will be for it to fly on the 737, which is scheduled for the fourth quarter of the year.
Savin expects all 737 engines delivered after mid-2011 to be the -7BE variant.
