XOJET opts for Aircell High Speed Internet

San Carlos, California-based private jet operator XOJET is equipping its fleet of Cessna Citation X and Bombardier Challenger 300 aircraft with Aircell's High Speed Internet. Installation is scheduled for completion next month. The Aircell service will enable XOJET customers to access the internet in flight for web browsing, email and VPN access using any Wi-Fi enabled device, including laptops, netbooks and smartphones.

XOJET president Benjamin Murray says High Speed Internet "will give our passengers exactly what they want – the ability to create an on-demand 'flying board room' to continue doing business in flight."

The operator's “Why Fly without Wi-Fi" initiative will also enable flight crews to remain connected to the company’s centralised dispatch system via handheld mobile device, while electronic flight bag applications will be linked directly with each aircraft for automatic updates and real-time access to key safety and service data. Real-time en-route data download should enable the team to optimise the flight for comfort and safety, the operator adds.
