AIX2010: Libyan, OnAir seal A330 connectivity deal, discuss CRJ application

News : AIX2010: Libyan, OnAir seal A330 connectivity deal, discuss CRJ application May 19, 2010

AIRCRAFT INTERIORS 2010: Libyan Airlines and OnAir have signed a deal at the show – originally announced last week – extending the use of SwiftBroadband Mobile OnAir and WiFi internet OnAir to the airline’s A330s following their selection for Libyan’s A320 fleet last year.

The carrier is due to receive the first of four A330s on order in June 2011.

The connectivity deal was signed by Libyan’s assistant commercial director Fauzi Zaghonni (centre in pic) and OnAir’s chief commercial officer Stephan Egli (2nd from right). And Zaghonni admitted that the airline is looking to extend its use of the technology and has asked OnAir for a proposal to install the system on the carrier’s Bombardier CRJ900s. Libyan currently has five of these and is planning to take three more.

The connectivity plans for the CRJs naturally find favour with Egli. “Once passengers of an airline use the system on one fleet within an airline they get used to it and appreciate it on other fleets,” he remarked.
