TransAsia announces new IFE offering with the iPad 3August 10, 2012
Business class passengers travelling on selected international routes with TransAsia Airways will be provided iPad 3 devices including complimentary in-flight entertainment (IFE) content.
TransAsia claims to be the first full-service Asian carrier to offer the iPad 3 as an IFE solution which is part of the carrier’s cabin refurbishment and enhancement programme launched earlier this summer.
Together with content service provider, IFP, and authorised iPad management company Jetpack (a Project Lambda company), TransAsia’s Business Class passengers will be able to access a selection of Hollywood and Asian movies, Western and regional TV, a varied audio catalogue, in-flight games and electronic magazines.
TransAsia’s aim to equip its fleets with iPads is to also promote for a more eco-friendly cabin reading environment. It is part of a larger upgrade programme which includes fleet expansion with the A330 beginning delivery in November, upgraded in-flight meal menu, new refurbished airport lounges, and a completely refreshed City Smart uniform look.
“TransAsia endeavours to keep-up with the latest technology trends and meet our passengers’ expectations,” commented MarCom Assistant Vice-President at TransAsia Airways, Annie Chiu. “We’re delighted to partner with service providers such as IFP to be the first full-service carrier in our market to launch such a programme and offer a unique and enhanced experience to our customers through our extensive content catalogue.”
The airline launched the new iPad 3 IFE content programme in two months and plans to offer further options for passengers by extending the programme to all routes in the coming months.
