PAL to introduce iPads as IFE
July 26, 2012Philippine Airlines (PAL) is to offer Apple iPads as part of the carrier’s in-flight entertainment (IFE) programme onboard its trans-Pacific flights.
PAL will claim to be the first full service airline in Asia to introduce Apple iPads in-flight, the result of a close co-ordination between PAL and Cupertino, California-based Apple, Inc.
Passengers flying to and from PAL's four North American destinations will be offered iPads loaded with various IFE options – from the latest full-length movies, TV shows, music, games, to newspapers and magazines.
For a minimal fee, both business and economy class passengers can opt to use the iPad with its operating system and other features, such as made-for-iPad user interface, closed captioning, multi-language playback, controls that detect if headphones are not plugged in, and more.
With its quad-core graphics processor that enables endless fun in games and razor-sharp text display, the iPads have been customised to also contain PAL's in-flight reading materials such as Mabuhay magazine, duty-free catalogue, in-flight meal menu, safety card, PAL promos and other publications.
The iPad is just one of the customer service enhancements announced by PAL President Ramon S. Ang together with PAL Director Michael G. Tan on 23rd July.
