Germanwings signs distribution deal with Sabre
May 30, 2012Sabre Travel Network and Germanwings have announced a new long-term airline distribution agreement, which provides Sabre travel agencies and corporations around the world with access to Germanwings’ fares, schedules and availability.
All Germanwings flights sold via Sabre include one piece of luggage and one free snack/refreshment onboard.
Harald Eisenächer, senior vice-president for Sabre Travel Network Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) remarked, “Germanwings is one of the fastest-growing [low-fare airlines] in Europe, and its content is in hot demand with travellers and agencies. Our new deal will give Germanwings the opportunity to step that up and compete even more effectively with other carriers by marketing its fares directly to over 350,000 Sabre agents around the world.”
Thomas Winkelmann, CEO of Germanwings, added, “Sabre is a valuable channel for us, providing global reach and new technology that will help us grow our international business. We see Sabre as an important technology partner as we expand our footprint into new countries and target even more global business travellers.”
The airline distribution agreement between Sabre and Germanwings supports interlining and codesharing capabilities with other Lufthansa Group Airlines. Furthermore, distributing its fares through Sabre facilitates the integration of Germanwings into Lufthansa’s corporate programme.
