airBaltic records 30,000 hours of iPad IFE usage

News : airBaltic records 30,000 hours of iPad IFE usage December 5, 2011
A year on from when airBaltic claimed to be the first European carrier to use iPads for inflight entertainment (IFE), the Latvian national airline has recorded 30,000 hours of iPad usage each month.

The statistic is calculated from passengers travelling via North Hub Riga to/from destinations in Europe, Middle East, Russia and CIS.

The Apple iPads have offered a new IFE experience for airBaltic passengers with access to movies, cartoons, music, games, or daily news from electronic newspapers. The iPads are available on flights to Europe, Middle East and CIS that are longer than 2 hours and 30 minutes; typically 10 iPad 2 devices are available on each flight.

iPads are offered free of charge to Business class, while Economy class passengers pay 9 EURO for the service. The top flights for iPad usage during the summer were Antalya and Barcelona.
