MRO AMERICAS: Goodrich inks deal with Skynet Asia

News : MRO AMERICAS: Goodrich inks deal with Skynet Asia April 13, 2011

Skynet Asia Airways has contracted with Goodrich for the supply of wheels and carbon brakes for its new fleet of 13 Boeing 737-800s which are set to begin delivering in June and continue through until 2016.

The carbon brake uses proprietary DURACARB carbon heat sink material for a 35% brake life advantage and, according to Goodrich, a 700 lb weight advantage per aircraft. The airline cited Goodrich’s role in reducing maintenance costs for its decision.

Based in Miyazaki City, Japan, Skynet has been in operation since 2002 and now offers services between the five major cities in Kyushhu including Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Oita and Kagoshima, Tokyo-Haneda and Okinawa-Naha. The airline is on the cusp of expansion in both Japan and across Asia in the coming years.
