Regional Express Holdings (Rex) has announced a group profit before tax of A$12.2 million for the half-year ended 31 December 2010, a reduction of 5.4% from the first half of FY2010.

In comparison to the 1H10, group revenue increased by 2.9% to $121.2 million, passengers carried decreased by 1.4% to 632,777 and capacity (in available seat kilometres) increased by 4.0% to 389 million.

Rex also announced the promotion of GM flight operations and chief pilot Chris Hine to the newly-created position of chief operating officer with effect from 1 March. Hine has been in his current role with Rex since the company’s inception in August 2002, prior to which he worked for Kendell Airlines from 1995.

Meanwhile, after many years of service on the board of Rex, David Miller will retire as a director from 1 March. Miller will continue in his role as CEO of Air Link. Hine replaces Miller as a director of Rex with effect from 1 March 2011.
