AirAsia adds to KL–Chennai frequency

News : AirAsia adds to KL–Chennai frequency November 15, 2010

AirAsia will increase its frequency on the Kuala Lumpur–Chennai route through the addition of four more flights from 21 January 2011.

With these new additions, AirAsia will now operate 11 flights weekly from Chennai and a total of 114 weekly flights from India. AirAsia currently serves this route with a direct daily flight to Chennai departing from the Low-Cost Terminal, Kuala Lumpur, using 180-seat Airbus A320s.

Chennai, situated in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, was amongst the first destinations in India served by AirAsia and the route has consistently had strong loads.

Kathleen Tan, regional head of commercial, AirAsia, commented, “We had always known that the Kuala Lumpur–Chennai route would perform exceedingly well. In fact within the first few months of flying to Chennai, we have consistently enjoyed strong load factor on this route.  We feel that it is timely to add a second frequency and this is certainly a reinforcement of our growing interest in the Indian market.”
